In Ecological Thought, Morton introduced the term hyperobjects to describe objects that are so widely spread in time and space that they transcend spatial and temporal qualities, such as global warming, styrofoam, and radioactive plutonium. According to Morton, hyperobjects not only originated during an ecological crisis, but also alerted humans to the ecological challenges that defined their time.
